New SimplifyScan from Nuance Makes Life Simply Better for More Sharp Customers

LONDON, UK, 27 October, 2011 - Integrating documents into digital workflow processes using Sharp MFPs is now even easier, thanks to the introduction of a new version of Nuance’s SimplifyScan. It introduces a host of improvements to benefit even more Sharp customers thanks to its support for Sharp OSA® (Open Systems Architecture), including the latest devices with new colour displays. SimplifyScan users will also benefit from its new OCR engine, as well as the extended support for the latest versions of popular third party software applications, including Oracle, Microsoft Sharepoint and OpenText Live Link.
The new OCR engine is Nuance’s popular OmniPage® which provides the most precise way to convert paper, PDF files and forms accurately into files that can easily be edited in popular PC applications, or archived in a document repository. OmniPage’s superior accuracy and formatting means it is up to even the most demanding tasks, with its speed, quality and comprehensive feature set making it the ideal OCR engine for SimplifyScan.
Nuance SimplifyScan is the most recent result of Nuance strategy to integrate existing imaging products – such as OmniPage – with established and successful imaging product lines from complementary companies it has acquired, making it easier for new and existing customers to integrate paper documents into digital workflows, and benefit from optimised efficiencies and cost savings, while facilitating the creation of a digital paper trail to adhere to compliance requirements. Through introducing Nuance imaging solutions, organisations can prevent time being wasted archiving and retrieving physical paper documents, while also liberating valuable office space by discarding redundant filing cabinets.
Commenting on the introduction of SimplifyScan, Robert Weideman, General Manager & Senior Vice President at Nuance Communications, said: “Nuance imaging vision is to bring best of breeds technology and solutions to our customers to make it even easier to capture, extract, save and retrieve content from documents to drive workflow efficiencies. The new version of SimplifyScan is a result of this unified vision. Already an indispensible asset for many Sharp customers, their feedback has been invaluable in helping us to further refine and develop SimplifyScan to ensure it continues to meet their business needs and delivers tangible benefits to the user community. The new OmniPage OCR engine will make SimplifyScan even more compelling by delivering greater OCR accuracy, document conversion and layout capabilities, which will make it easier to find and work with digital content, thus leading to greater overall efficiency.”
