Simplify Scan 1.1.122 Release Notes

Changes that are listed below are changes made between SimplifyScan release 1.1.121.1208 and 1.1.122.1317.

NEW FEATURES:

  • General functions
    • Support of Windows Server 2008.
    • Support of Windows 7.
    • Support of 64-bit systems (Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7) - running as 32-bit application.
    • Regular expressions can be used as splitter for metadata.
    • Finer settings for the "Email error notification".
    • Support for optionally disabling virtual keyboard for lookup lists.
    • If HTTPS connection is used by the devices, SimplifyScan can be registered.

  • Exact Synergy Enterprise connector
    • Separate installer is not needed anymore for the Exact Synergy Enterprise connector. The connector can use the business components from the installation folder of the Exact Synergy Enterprise system.
    • The Exact Synergy Enterprise release 245 and earlier are supported.

    • Support of Lotus Notes v8.0 and v8.5.

    • The browse functionality of the eDOCS module can display all folders, not just folders in any workspace.

    • Support of Oracle v10 and v11.
  • SharePoint connector
    • Can connect to SharePoint through SSL.

    • Storing documents in 'Lists' is supported.

    • Support of SuperOffice v6.1, v6.2 and v6.3.

RESOLVED ISSUES:

  • General functions
    • Module and trigger element in daily log file was switched.
    • Text area of the Format string for the TXT export "flickered".
    • Extra metadata values were unsorted.
    • User custom fields could not be used in the Administration Tool.
    • After uninstallation some files or folders remained on the computer.
    • Uninstallation of SimplifyScan was freezing.
    • Could not process very huge images.
    • QListener service needed to be restarted when the license changes.
    • "No license" error when Standard User was specified for "Log on as" user in SimplifyScan.
    • SimplifyScan cannot register the new OSA 3.5 Sharp devices.
  • Administration Tool
    • “200 dpi” resolution could not be saved in the Administration Tool when "Text&Photo" exposure was selected.
  • Device client
    • Loading time on the OSA3 device client is faster.
    • Credentials, Username and Password labels were unreadable on authentication screen if the color scheme was changed.
    • When the "Settings" tab was active and a scan job was started, the scanning started and the questions screen appeared but the "Settings" tab was displayed as the selected tab.
    • Sometimes the scanning jobs were not closed, so after some scanning a device reboot was necessary.
    • PCounter could not update its user files, if external authentication was used.
    • Template that should not have been available (the current user had no right for it) appeared in the device client.
    • An "index out of range" error occurred in the client when hot buttons were not specified.
    • On the newest Sharp devices the header of the SimplifyScan client was not visible, just a blank white area appeared.
    • If the “Refresh” button was pressed on the template list screen, nothing happened for a while. Now a progress dialog appears immediately.
    • On devices with 1024x600 pixels LCD screen not the whole area was used by SimplifyScan.
  • Advanced Image Processing module
    • Using Bates stamp sometimes corrupted PDF files were created.
    • OCR language was reset to English after saving the trigger.
    • Using metadata as format string in a metadata for a Bates stamp caused exception.

    • The "Keep Value" and "Remove Pages" checkboxes could not be selected separately for a barcode zone in the "Zone OCR" dialog.
    • Zone OCR "Remove Pages' option is not working.

    • PDF file cannot be opened due to reading issue.
    • A Word 2003 DOC file was created but cannot be opened by MS Office.
    • A problem with data type Int32 occurred if OpenDocument Text was selected as output format.
    • Despeckle option did not seem to be operating.
  • Exact e-Synergy connector
    • Warning messages, for example, "Value [Value] is not valid" appeared on the device's touchscreen while scanning to Exact e-Synergy.
  • Exact Globe connector
    • Warning messages, for example, "Value [Value] is not valid" appeared on the device's touchscreen while scanning to Exact Globe.
    • Documents are uploaded onto Exact Globe in read-only mode.
  • Exact Synergy Enterprise connector
    • Exact Synergy Enterprise is not working in Write as pictures on.
  • ODBC connector
    • "Cannot establish connection with server" error message appeared in case of a MySQL database.
  • Open Text eDOCS connector
    • Browsing the folders of eDOCS 5.2 did not return any folders and unhandled exception was thrown.
    • "Open Text eDOCS" store module could not upload files to a Hummingbird server.
    • Could not browse the eDOCS folder from devices.
    • Improved performance in case of lookup functionality.
    • Documents added through SimplifyScan to eDOCS are immediately stored as being “Published”.
    • SimplifyScan could not upload file to eDOCS server when the target folder is selected on the MFP device.
  • ProLaw connector
    • Multiple files uploaded to the ProLaw in one step via the SimplifyScan could not be found.
  • SharePoint connector
    • SimplifyScan cannot connect to the SharePoint site correctly, if SharePoint is on a 64-bit system.
    • SimplifyScan cannot connect to the SharePoint site correctly, if SharePoint is on a Windows Server 2008 system.
    • SimplifyScan cannot connect to the SharePoint site correctly, if SharePoint is not installed in the default location.
    • Population of SharePoint Custom Fields is ignored when file with duplicate name exists in SharePoint Document Library.
    • Web Services Enhancement (WSE) was not installed correctly, so the browse functionality was not work on the device client.
  • Winshare out connector
    • Winshare out "-Append after" option does not merge all of the files.
    • Folder browse did not work when the parent folder contained "'" character.
  • Worldox GX connector
    • "Failed to get parent field ID" error message appeared if a linked field containing unlinked items was selected for a Worldox lookup question

KNOWN OPEN ISSUES:

  • Installation
    • The installer cannot be cancelled at every point.
  • Administration Tool
    • The "Description column" field of a lookup question accepts invalid data.
    • When the software has failed jobs after starting of Administration Tool shows no failed jobs.
    • The scroll bar for hot buttons is inactive in edit mode.
    • Deleting an OCR zone without a name causes an exception.
    • Setting up authentication in SimplifyScan when scan devices is already added gives an error message: “Scan device is already in the list.”
    • SimplifyScan cannot synchronize users using LDAP when more than one Container is set in the DC.
  • Device client
    • On OSA v2.0 devices which do not have 100dpi resolution capability but this is the used resolution in the selected trigger, 300dpi resolution seems to be selected (at the Settings screen of the device client), but the scanning performs using 200dpi.
    • Scanning is not possible after reinstalling SimplifyScan, if the configuration files were kept during the uninstallation. As a workaround, edit and save the general settings in the Administration Tool after the reinstallation.
    • Scanning from glass does not work on MX-7000N device.
    • The 'Do you want to use this template again?' question appears when the scanning is still in progress.
    • On OSA3 or higher devices without auto-color capability the auto-color scan setting is selectable.
    • On some OSA3 or higher devices all of the resolution options can be selected although some of them are unsupported.
    • If scanning from the ADF is performed without paper, SimplifyScan behaves the same way as in case of a successful scanning.
    • If the color scheme is changed, the login process should be repeated.
    • On big screens (1024x600 pixels) the UI is stretched, so the sight is not sharp.
  • Advanced Image Processing module
    • The generated TIFF files are 8 times bigger than the TIFF files coming from the Sharp devices, because the Advanced Image Processing module uses lossless compression.
    • When using an OCR zone metadata as Bates stamp SimplifyScan does not put the stamp after job separation.
    • SimplifyScan cannot pass the file properties to scanned B&W TIFF files.
    • Error: 'Booklet must have an even number of pages' in SimplifyScan comes up when scanning odd pages.
    • Booklet and job separation sheet functionalities do not work together.
  • AccountView connector
    • In case of a lookup for AccountView users the list could not be filtered on the device client.
  • LPR Printer connector 
    • If the LPR feature of Windows is not installed, an unclear “The system cannot find the specified file” error message appears.
    • If the output is a TXT file, it cannot be printed.
  • E-mail out connector
    • E-mail out module does not work with linux mail servers.
  • Exact Globe connector
    • Crash when the "..." (browse) button is clicked in the Administration Tool.
  • Exact Synergy Enterprise
    • XLSX files cannot be uploaded to Exact Synergy Enterprise systems.
  • Microsoft SQL Server connector
    • Unable to use "Save file on disk" option.
    • Error when connecting to a MS SQL table column that contains spaces.
  • Open Text eDOCS connector
    • When XLSX is set as output format in SimplifyScan, eDOCS v6 adds PDF extension to the XLSX file.
